Lap 2 Crash Spoils Milestone Night for JRD Motorsports

What was meant to be a memorable evening celebrating Ryan Dyson's 100th career start quickly turned into a frustrating night for JRD Motorsports.

Pulling double duty in both the JRD Motorsports Bingo Country, Jackpot Time No. 28 Super Stock and the Major Motorsports Pro Late Model, Dyson and the team showed competitive speed in both divisions from the start of the evening.

In the Super Stock heat race, Dyson started 9th and quickly worked his way through the field. The No. 28 was one of the fastest cars on the track, advancing to 5th before running out of laps. Following post-race technical inspection, the team was credited with a 4th-place finish.

Behind the wheel of the Major Motorsports Pro Late Model, Dyson also recorded a strong 4th-place finish in the heat race, setting the stage for two promising feature events.

Unfortunately, the 50-lap Super Stock feature was effectively over before it began. Following a start that should have been called back, contact on Lap 2 resulted in significant damage to the No. 28, ending any realistic chance of contending for the victory.

The JRD Motorsports crew immediately went to work making repairs, allowing Dyson to rejoin the race nearly half a lap behind the field. Without another caution to erase the deficit, the No. 28 continued to charge forward, passing several competitors over the remaining laps to salvage an 11th-place finish and valuable championship points.

"It was probably only a matter of time before something like this happened with the way we've had to start in the field every week," said Ryan Dyson. "The frustrating part is I don't think we should have been in that position to begin with, the initial start had several rule infractions. That's racing though, and you have to deal with the cards you're dealt.”

The team's resilience continued in the Major Motorsports Pro Late Model feature. Dyson remained competitive throughout the event, running inside the top seven while battling for 6th in the closing laps before taking the checkered flag in 7th.

While the final results did not reflect the speed the team brought to Delaware Speedway, the determination shown by both the crew and driver was a testament to the strength of the program. Championships are built on resilience, and salvaging an 11th-place finish after the early damage could prove valuable as the title fight continues.

“The one positive is that this result finally puts us in the same situation that the teams around us in the championship have already benefited from.” said Dyson. “With the way the lineup format works, we'll have a better starting position over the next few weeks, and hopefully we can take advantage of it."
