Hard-Fought Sixth Keeps JRD Motorsports in Championship Hunt

JRD Motorsports and the Bingo Country, Jackpot Time No. 28 team returned to Delaware Speedway looking to rebound from last week's crash and delivered another solid points night despite facing adversity.

After practice, the team battled a leaking lower radiator hose. With little time available between sessions to complete the repair, the decision was made to monitor the issue, build a makeshift patch, and continue racing. Fortunately, the leak had no noticeable impact on the performance of the No. 28.

Ryan Dyson lined up 6th in the heat race and put together another consistent drive, advancing to a 3rd-place finish. The result matched the finish of the championship leader, allowing the team to keep the points deficit to just one point after last week's setback.

Starting 8th in the feature, Dyson immediately found speed on the outside lane and quickly worked his way toward the top five. Early in the race, the No. 28 appeared poised for another podium challenge before getting caught behind a slower car on the high side. In the span of a single lap, the team dropped from contention for the top five to 12th.

Refusing to give up, Dyson methodically worked his way back through the field, making several passes to recover to a 6th-place finish. The 28’s late-race pace matched that of the drivers running 3rd through 5th, which led to the team being unable to make up the lost track position.

"It was a frustrating one because I really think we had a top-three or top-four car," said driver Ryan Dyson. "The team gave me a great race car, even while dealing with the radiator hose issue all night. We got caught behind a slower car at the worst possible time and lost a lot of track position, but everyone kept digging and we were able to salvage a sixth-place finish and keep our points position. At the end of the day, minimizing the damage was important."

Despite the disappointing finish relative to the speed of the No. 28, JRD Motorsports leaves the night just 5 points behind in the championship battle with the title fight continuing to tighten.
