JRD Motorsports Announces Conclusion of Racing Operations

After nine seasons, 108 races and countless memories, JRD Motorsports closes one chapter while looking ahead to what comes next.

LONDON, ON — October 20, 2026 — JRD Motorsports has announced that the team has officially concluded its racing operations following the completion of the 2026 racing season, bringing an end to a nine-year journey that began in 2018 with little more than a passion for racing and a dream.

While the team will no longer operate its own race cars, the JRD Motorsports name and its involvement in racing will continue beyond the 2026 season. Moving forward, JRD Motorsports will continue to share and promote Ryan Dyson's racing journey, provide updates on future racing opportunities, and bring supporters along as new projects, builds and ventures take shape. Although the team's role in the sport will look different, its passion for racing and connection with the motorsports community remain.

After nine seasons of competition, the demands of running a race team at a high level have required an enormous commitment of time, energy and resources. Ultimately, the decision was made to step away from racing in order to create more time for family and to enjoy some of the moments in life that are difficult to make room for during a full racing season.

“It's incredibly difficult to make the decision to walk away from something that has been such a huge part of our lives,” said driver and team owner Ryan Dyson. “But racing at this level requires an incredible amount of time and sacrifice. We've reached a point where we want to be able to spend more time with our families and enjoy life away from the racetrack. It's a difficult decision, but it's the right decision for us.”

What began in 2018 with two brothers who had no previous mechanical or racing experience grew into a consistently front-running race team.

Over nine seasons, JRD Motorsports competed in 108 races, recording 74 top-10 finishes and 46 top-five finishes. The 46 top-five finishes represent a top-five result in 42.6 percent of all career starts, a statistic that reflects the consistency the team was able to achieve throughout its time on the racetrack.

The team also recorded six feature victories, eight heat race wins and two pole awards, while competing successfully across multiple levels of short-track racing.

Perhaps the most memorable accomplishment came when JRD Motorsports realized a dream that had seemed almost impossible when the team first started — making a start in the NASCAR Canada Series.

“When we started this in 2018, we didn't know where it was going to take us,” Dyson said. “We were two brothers who didn't know how to build a race car, didn't have a racing background and really just had a dream of going racing. Everything we accomplished came from learning as we went, surrounding ourselves with good people and never being afraid to put in the work.”

“To look back and know that we built a team that could consistently run at the front of the field, win races, earn poles and eventually make a NASCAR Canada start is something I'm incredibly proud of.”

While the statistics tell an important part of the JRD Motorsports story, the numbers only represent a small part of what the team became.

There were the victories that will never be forgotten, hard-fought podium finishes, heartbreaking losses, long nights in the shop, early mornings at the track, broken race cars, rebuilds and countless moments that could only happen because a group of people cared enough to keep pushing forward.

“I'm proud of what we accomplished on the racetrack, but the people are what made this special,” Dyson said. “The crew members who gave up their weekends, the family members who supported us, the friends who helped in the shop, the partners who believed in us and the fans who followed us — every one of them played a part in this.”

JRD Motorsports extends its deepest appreciation to every person who contributed to the team since 2018. Whether they turned a wrench, helped load the trailer, provided financial support, offered advice, travelled to the track or simply cheered from the grandstands, they became part of the JRD Motorsports story.

The team also wishes to sincerely thank all of its partners, past and present, for believing in the vision and helping make the journey possible. Their support allowed JRD Motorsports to chase goals that once seemed far beyond reach.

And to the fans, there are simply no words that fully express the team's gratitude.

Thank you for standing along the fence. Thank you for watching from home. Thank you for sharing our races, videos and stories. Thank you for celebrating the victories and supporting us through the difficult nights.

“When that final checkered flag fell, it was emotional,” Dyson said. “But I don't want to look at this as something to be sad about. I want to look back and be thankful that we got to do it. We had a dream, and somehow that dream turned into nine years, 108 races, six feature wins, eight heat wins, two poles, 46 top-five finishes, 74 top-10 finishes and a NASCAR Canada start.”

“We couldn't have written a better story ourselves.”

After nine seasons, JRD Motorsports closes its doors knowing that two brothers with no racing or mechanical experience set out with a dream — and built something they can be proud of. What started in 2018 as a dream became nine years of racing, friendships, memories and accomplishments that will last far beyond the final checkered flag.

Thank you to everyone who was part of the journey.

The Story Isn't Quite Over

While the 2026 season marks the end of JRD Motorsports as a racing operation, it does not necessarily mark the end of the JRD Motorsports name or its involvement in the sport.

After nine seasons, the decision to step away from operating our own race cars brings a significant chapter to a close. However, our passion for racing remains, and we look forward to continuing to share that passion with our supporters as we explore what comes next.

More details about the future of the JRD Motorsports name, as well as what's next for Ryan, will be shared in the coming months.

For now, this is an opportunity to reflect on everything that has been accomplished since 2018 and, above all, to thank everyone who made the journey possible.

The checkered flag may have fallen on JRD Motorsports as we know it — but there may still be a few laps left in this story.
