JRD Motorsports Moves Within Four Points of Championship Lead

JRD Motorsports and the Bingo Country, Jackpot Time No. 28 team returned to Delaware Speedway Friday night for a double-feature program, coming away with a pair of top-four finishes and another strong showing in the championship fight.
The night got off to a promising start with Ryan Dyson rolling off 5th in the heat race. The No. 28 quickly charged to the front, taking over the lead and looking to hold on for the win. Dyson led until just two laps remained before the car became a little too difficult to handle. Despite the late challenge, the #28 held on for a 3rd-place finish.
The team finally caught a break when it came to the starting position for the first feature, giving Dyson an opportunity to start closer to the front than has become typical under Delaware Speedway's handicapping format.
Dyson made the most of it, quickly working his way into 2nd and settling into a strong pace for the remainder of the race. The No. 28 had a fast car underneath it, but the team was unable to close the gap to Rickwood Racing, who went on to capture their first career Super Stock victory. The runner-up finish was JRD Motorsports’ 5th podium finish of the season in just 7 races.
The second feature brought another challenge. Rather than using the three-week average that has determined starting positions throughout much of the season, the lineup was set using a top-10 invert of the first feature's results. That put the No. 28 back in 9th for the start.
Once again, Dyson went to work.
The #28 methodically picked off positions throughout the race, charging forward through the field and ultimately bringing home a 4th-place finish to close out the double-feature program.
"It was a really solid night for us, especially considering how tight this championship has become," said Ryan Dyson. "We would have obviously loved to win one of the features, but we had two strong cars and brought home a second and a fourth. Gaining a point on the leader and getting to within four points of the championship lead is exactly what we needed."
Two top-four finishes, a heat race podium, and another night of strong pace provided plenty of positives for JRD Motorsports as the championship battle continues.
The championship battle remains as tight as ever heading into the mid-summer break. By the end of the double-feature night, JRD Motorsports had gained one point on the championship leader, bringing the No. 28 to within just four points of the lead. With the top four drivers separated by only seven points, the championship remains anyone's to win as the season enters its next stretch.
